6 x 8 Breathing is an amazing and simple tool to get control of stress your stress. This slows your breathing down, slows your nervous system down because is sees slow breathing as relaxation, raises your CO2 levels in your blood which allows you to use up to 20% more oxygen that you have in your blood and opens up your circulation throughout your body. It is particularly useful to prepare for sleep because it helps you get out of your head and think about anything other than the things you normally worry about. Method: Breathe through your nose and belly. Keep your neck long and shoulders down. These are gentle full breaths. Flow cleanly from you in breath to you out breath and likewise.
1. Breathe in for 6 seconds
2. Breathe out for 8 seconds
3. Repeat 10 times or as many times as you wish there is no limit to this activity.
4. Actively counting the seconds and rounds in you head will help you take your mind off worry and stress and place you in this moment.
5. Bring your awareness to the movement of the breath moving in and out of your nose, throat, chest, or anywhere you can feel something change in your body as you breathe.
